Jennifer Best joins Southwestern Commission Governing Board

Haywood County Commissioner Jennifer Best was elected as Second Vice-Chair of the Southwestern Commission Governing Board.
Best, a second-term commissioner and only the fourth woman to serve in that capacity in Haywood County's 115-year history, joins Chair Connie Orr (Swain County), First Vice-Chair Tim Radford (Murphy) and Treasurer Richard Sneed (Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians) on the executive committee.
The Southwestern Commission Governing Board provides oversight and guidance for the organization. The board meets six times per year and is responsible for approving the budget and any policy or bylaw changes. Every local government in the region has a voting member on the board.
