ASHEVILLE — This holiday season, BinkInc and Well Played Board Game Café launch Meeples for the Mountains, an initiative aimed at bringing joy and levity to families impacted by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina.

The recent devastation has left many families facing unprecedented challenges. Meeples for the Mountains seeks to lighten their load by collecting new, unplayed board games—especially popular ones that accommodate four or more players—to distribute to those in need through our partner charity, Beloved Asheville.

"Board games are more than just entertainment; they're a means of bringing people together," said Hannah Howard Bink, Principal at BinkInc. "In times of hardship, the simple act of gathering around a game can provide comfort, laughter, and a sense of normalcy."

Why Board Games? 

• No Electricity or Batteries Needed: Perfect for areas still recovering from power outages. 
• Family Bonding: Suitable for all ages, fostering connections beyond just the children.
• Endless Replayability: A gift that keeps on giving for years to come.

The campaign's name draws inspiration from the "meeple," a small wooden figure representing players in many board games. "The meeple symbolizes all of us coming together for this mission," added Mike Belsole, General Manager at Well Played Board Game Café. "It's a fitting representation of community unity and support."
