The City of Asheville has published key business-related findings from the Helene Recovery Priorities Survey, a public engagement initiative conducted from January 17 to February 2, 2025. Nearly 6,900 responses were gathered to help shape the city's recovery priorities following Hurricane Helene.

The survey highlighted the significant impact on Asheville’s business community, including:

  • Economic Recovery: 76% of respondents supported business recovery efforts.

  • Job & Income Loss: 29% of respondents reported losing jobs or income, with 47% of business owners affected.

  • Business Displacement: 32% of business owners faced temporary or long-term displacement.

  • Financial Assistance: 17% of respondents cited financial support as an immediate need.

Survey results will directly inform Asheville’s approach to economic recovery. The results were an important source of information for City Council as they identified key focus areas at their retreat on February 13 and 14.
