The NuWray Hotel in Burnsville, NC, is preparing to mark a historic milestone with its grand opening in May 2025. The renovation process at The NuWray Hotel, which began over three years ago, involved the careful restoration of 34 bathrooms, 113 historic windows, and several other crucial updates to the property. The project also faced unique challenges, including a temporary interruption from Hurricane Helene. Despite these hurdles, the team has persevered and now prepares to open the hotel to the public.

The hotel’s grand opening will be celebrated across two major events in May 2025, marking the completion of a significant chapter in Burnsville’s history.

The official grand opening month will kick off with a Housewarming & Open House on Thursday, May 1. From 10 AM to 8 PM, the hotel will open its doors for free tours, offering the public a chance to explore the fully restored building. Starting at 4 PM, light hors d’oeuvres and drinks from the lobby bar will be served.

The following event, the NuWray Restoration Shindig on Friday, May 30, will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 PM followed by live music from Dylan Wilson and the Stardust Cowboys. A $20 BBQ buffet will be available for guests, with refreshments provided by Roland’s Bar.

Finally, on Saturday, May 31, the highly anticipated NuWray restaurant will open its doors to the public for the first time.

To mark the occasion, The NuWray Hotel is offering a special Grand Opening Room Package. The package includes a two-night stay from May 30 to June 1, a $100 dining credit, and optional tours of the hotel. Additionally, guests will receive NuWray-branded memorabilia as part of the celebration.

The restoration of The NuWray Hotel has been a years-long effort, focusing on preserving the building's historic charm while upgrading it with modern amenities. Some of the key features of the restoration include the installation of new HVAC systems, plumbing fittings, and electrical wiring, as well as the integration of contemporary kitchen facilities. The renovation also prioritized maintaining the building’s original character, with careful attention to details like the historic windows and architectural elements.
