AdventHealth Welcomes New Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Apr 21, 2025 02:05PM ● By WNC Business

Laura M. Sullivan, MSN, APRN, NNP-BC, will join the care team at The Baby Place at AdventHealth Hendersonville. Sullivan brings her expertise and a heart full of compassion to our team, where she provides exceptional inpatient care to the newest and tiniest members of our community as our latest newborn hospitalist.

Sullivan has been in Neonatal medicine since 2002 and has more than 10 years of experience as a practitioner in the NICU caring for the littlest, most vulnerable patients. Sullivan earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Southern Colorado and then completed her Master of Science degree in Nursing/Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program from Regis University in Colorado.

Sullivan most recently served as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at the Level III NICU at Prisma Health-Bryan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Children’s Hospital in Greenville, SC. While there she provided critical care for preterm infants 22 weeks and older, offered post-surgical care and coordinated interdisciplinary services to ensure comprehensive mother and baby care.

“I try to approach patients with kindness in my hands,” Sullivan says. “I work with babies. They can feel your vibe, especially through the hands.” She shares that her approach to whole-person care is to “meet people where they are, see them and what their needs are, then you have a good beginning to assist in helping them heal.”

AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to have Sullivan on our expert team of inpatient pediatric hospitalists providing critical care for newborns, closer to home. As we work to build our new NICU, Sullivan's expertise and compassionate care are foundational to our efforts. The new NICU will be a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with five beds, allowing us to accept mothers as early as 32 weeks gestation. This unit will have three private rooms and two stabilization bays, providing additional privacy for families while visiting their newborns. Our team of expert physicians and nurses are ready to provide this lifesaving medical care to sick or premature newborns with this new NICU that will offer this vital care closer to home for their families. The new NICU is set to open later this year.

Sullivan is excited to be part of the mountain community. She and her husband have two fur babies, Mila and Brian. She enjoys spending time with family, cooking, hiking, and loving on her pups.
