The Yancey County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Small Business Center of Mayland Community College, proudly announces the launch of EmpowerHER Connect, a monthly leadership luncheon series dedicated to supporting and uplifting women in business throughout Yancey County and the surrounding region.

The inaugural EmpowerHER Connect Luncheon will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Burnsville Town Center, 6 S Main Street. This kickoff event will feature networking opportunities, a catered lunch by Pig and Grits, and a dynamic keynote by Beth Meadlock of the North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC).

Meadlock will speak on “Creative Ways to Market Your Business”, sharing valuable insights and strategies for growth. As part of the SBTDC—a statewide business advisory network hosted by the UNC System and in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration—Meadlock brings a wealth of knowledge to local entrepreneurs and women-led enterprises.

EmpowerHER Connect is grounded in the mission to foster confidence, resilience, and innovation, ensuring that every woman has the tools and support needed to achieve her business goals and make a lasting impact. With a strong vision for inclusivity and long-term success, the luncheon series aims to build a thriving community for women in business.

While the luncheon is focused on women in business, men are welcome and encouraged to attend in support of a more inclusive and collaborative business community.

“EmpowerHER Connect will be more than a lunch—it’s a space for connection, inspiration, and actionable growth,” said Elaine Mann, Executive Director of the Yancey County Chamber of Commerce. “We’re thrilled to offer this platform to local women entrepreneurs and leaders.” While the luncheon is focused on women in business, men are welcome as well.

Tickets are available now at YanceyChamber.com. Admission is $25 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members.
